Staff Accountant II

Position Overview

The Staff Accountant II is responsible for preparing standard and specialized financial reports in accordance with generally accepted accounting principles. The Staff Accountant II will be responsible for various aspects of general ledger accounting, including journal entries, account reconciliations, and financial reporting. A successful Staff Accountant II will possess strong analytical skills, attention to detail, and a solid understanding of GAAP principles.

Job Responsibilities

    • Generates customer invoices and monitor accounts receivable for accuracy and payment
    • Gathers financial information on customers and prospects for credit checks; maintain credit files
    • Records vendor invoices and monitor accounts payable for accuracy and payment
    • Compiles and analyzes financial information to prepare and post journal entries accurately and timely
    • Assists in the monthly close of the company’s financial statements including preparation of schedules support balance sheet and income statement accounts
    • Documents and develops accounting and control procedures for overall complex accounts
    • Prepare taxes fillings and assists in financial analysis and analysis as well as monthly department reporting
    • Reconcile balance sheet accounts, including bank accounts, prepaid expenses, accruals, and fixed assets
    • Assist in the month-end and year-end close processes, ensuring all deadlines are met
    • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to investigate and resolve discrepancies or variances in financial data
    • Works with other departments to ensure compliance with accounting policies and procedures
    • Provides supporting documentation and analytical information for all internal and external audits
    • Takes full responsibility for ensuring internal and external customer satisfaction
    • Demonstrates initiative, drive and determination to achieve results, success and growth
    • Stay updated on changes in accounting standards and regulations, and ensure compliance with GAAP principles
    • Participate in process improvement initiatives to enhance efficiency and effectiveness within the finance department

Organizational Alignment

    • Reports to Finance Manager or Director

Qualifications

    • BS in Accounting or Finance; CPA desired
    • At least 2 years of overall accounting experience; knowledge of accounting processes and procedures
    • Strong Excel skills
    • Excellent communication and customer service skills in dealing with internal and external customers
    • Attention to detail
    • Demonstrated ability to meet deadlines and work in a structured environment
    • Ability to handle confidential and sensitive information and records with a high degree of discretion, diligence and good judgment
    • Maintains a high level of energy, enthusiasm, engagement and commitment to action
